Airlie Gardens
The Airlie Gardens is a beautiful botanical garden in Wilmington that we explored on a rainy day.
Including Wrightsville Beach, Southport, Airlie Gardens and Fort Fisher
We included Wilmington, NC as a quick two week long stay to mainly explore some of North Carolina’s beautiful beaches, such as Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach.
We loved our Airbnb which was located in the historic district of downtown Wilmington. Most days after work we would walk to an awesome restaurant or walk along the beautiful boardwalk section along the Cape Fear river.
While here, we also explored Southport, the Oak Island lighthouse, Airlie Gardens, Battleship North Carolina, Fort Fisher, and more.

Wrightsville Beach was our favorite beach we went to in North Carolina. The town is beautiful and full of charm. Trevor went surfing here and had a great time.
The Oak Island Lighthouse is a unique lighthouse that offers tours up to the top. It was fun to climb the stairs up and the views from the top were incredible.
The Battleship North Carolina is World War 2 battleship that participated in every major naval offensive in the Pacific theater. It was astounding huge and we loved running around and exploring all the rooms, bunkers and turrets.
Our Airbnb was located in the historic district of downtown Wilmington and we absolutely loved it here. We tried to go on an activity here most days after work. We went on a carriage tour of Wilmington, went on a ghost tour, and went out to amazing restaurants.
Southport is a beautiful coastal town near Wilmington where the movie "Safe Haven" was filmed.
Fort Fisher was a Confederate fort during the Civil War. There are cool ruins to explore here and interesting hikes.
