Dune Succession Trail
The Dune Succession Trail was our favorite hike we did in the park. It’s a loop trail consisting of sand dunes, boardwalks and beaches. We also did it at sunset which made it extra special.
Including Chicago and Wrigley Field
Indiana Dunes National Park is situated in north western Indiana on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. It’s right next to the Illinois border, only an hour away from Chicago.
The main attraction of the park is its sand dunes and beaches. This park’s sand dunes are particular unique with their backdrop of Lake Michigan.
We stayed here for 5 days in an Airbnb in Indiana that was a 5 minute walk away from the park. We went to Chicago for a day to explore the city and do a tour of Wrigley field.

There’s a lot of great beaches in the park along the Lake Michigan shore. This was the first time either of us had been to one of the Great Lakes, so it was a cool experience!
This was a nice scenic hike through some wilderness area that ends at a pretty beach.
This loop trail takes you to some historic homestead buildings that are interesting to read about via the signage.
In Chicago, we went on a tour of Wrigley Field, a Chicago River Architecture Tour, and we visited the famous Bean.
