Congaree National Park

We included a week long stop in Columbia, SC on our journey up the east coast to visit Congaree National Park. Congaree is a small, swampy park with beautiful boardwalk hikes and diverse wildlife.

We also visited Charleston as well which is a really fun historic town with beautiful architecture.

Congaree National Park

Congaree is a small national park that is one of the least visited out of all national parks. The park is a swamp-like environment (technically called an old growth bottomland hardwood forest). We did the main boardwalk hikes here and also rented a canoe and floated down Cedar Creek.

Charleston, SC

On our way from Miami to Columbia, we stopped in Charleston for a night. Charleston is a historic city with beautiful architecture. While we were here, we did two walking tours: a haunted ghost tour and a history and architecture tour.

Cypress Gardens

On our way from Charleston to Columbia, we stopped at Cypress Gardens where we went on a canoe ride through a cypress swamp which was incredibly beautiful. Scenes from the movie "The Notebook" were filmed here.

Columbia

We stayed in Columbia for a week for it's proximity to Congaree National Park. We did a lot of fun things during the week after work while we were here, one of them being renting e-bikes and riding around the waterfront trails.

Myrtle Beach

On our way from Columbia to our next stop (Wilmington, North Carolina), we stopped at Myrtle Beach and strolled around the beautiful beach and board walks.
